In-house manufacturing capabilities
North Aircraft has in-house capabilities that cover all aspects of aerospace production. Our capabilities include composite manufacturing, component assembly, structural testing, systems testing, tooling, and finishing.
Composite manufacturing
We use our advanced composite manufacturing technology to create lightweight strong composite solutions for aircraft structures such as wings, fuselages, canopies, empennages, and small to large sub-parts and components.
North Aircraft designs and manufactures composite components utilizing various types of carbon fibre and fibreglass materials depending on the application.
We apply our laminating and resin infusion techniques with approved processes to optimize the structural properties of each airframe component.
Assembly and system integration
Our skilled team is qualified to perform pre-fit through to final assembly of systems and sub-components for all the items we manufacture. We test the functionality of the installed systems, such as:
- flight controls rigging
- de-ice pneumatics
- fuel systems, including fuel tank integrity
- landing gear operational checks
- hydraulics pressure and performance testing
- electrical continuity and bonding verification
Trimming and finishing
We have the skills, tools, and equipment to process parts through to final completion.
Our expertise includes:
- grinding
- trimming
- pre-paint preparation
- final finishing
In-process quality testing
We monitor our composite manufacturing processes for constant quality improvement purposes.
North Aircraft performs rigorous in-process quality control:
- qualify and approve sub-tier suppliers
- incoming material inspections
- continuous monitoring of final cure properties
- close out final quality
- full traceability of all parts and materials
- complete as-built documentation
- continuous quality training
Wire harnesses
North Aircraft fabricates and integrates wire harnesses, electrical components, and conduits in airframes and components.
Using 3D CAD models, we specify and create wire paths throughout the aircraft, and deliver custom cable and harness assemblies.
Full-scale structural testing
We developed in-house equipment to perform structural load testing of components and structures, including:
- targeted load application
- static load
- fatigue load
- HBK MGCPlus data acquisition (250 channels)
- MOOG smart test controller and actuation systems
Mold design and fabrication
North Aircraft designs and manufactures custom laminating molds, to create the exact product you need, down to the smallest detail.
Tooling and fixturing
We design custom tooling and fixtures to support the efficient manufacturing of products and execute our customers’ programs.
We have the ability to fabricate in-house, and/or utilize our extensive supplier network to manufacture the most effective solutions.
